I hate Comcast.

Three weeks after I dumped Comcast they’re still calling me wondering about sending a tech out to fix my issues. Every time they call I tell them I fixed my issues by switching to Verizon.

That’s about what I see with FiOS at home.

Nice...but I’m most impressed by the upload speed. I normally get (via iphone) something like 45/6 on a connection rated for 60/6 (wired).

I’ve never seen an ISP allow such fast uploads. Academic location? Or private line?

UUnet? They haven’t existed for 14 years. I guess AS701 is still out there though, and I know Verizon picked up the assets.

Verizon must’ve picked up UUnet since mine is FiOS

Woahhhhh. Not bad.

My Verizon Fios Quantum advertises at 50/50 Mbps, we are getting 20-25 at best.

A lot of back end IP addresses are still owned by that entity, even though your service is delivered by verizon/comcast/whoever. Sometimes the old school ISP names still exist for backbone service.

They are the fastest near me I think. I would switch to a mobile hot spot but they aren’t unlimited right? I haven’t really looked into it for a while. Comcast has been slower lately, it seems that way with downloading.

I have Comcast’s best plan at home (105 mbps up) and I usually get about 85 mbps. Honestly I don’t see why everyone always hates on Comcast. Apparently they have terrible customer service, but we’ve never really had issues that they needed to address.

How are you only getting 40 mb/s? I just got 144 down lololol.

I was excited this weekend when my download speed momentarily jumped to 600kb/s. Don’t worry though, it went back to it’s usual 160kb/s. Yay rural Wisconsin.

It’s a record keeping thing. Verizon SHOULD re-SWIP/update rwhois and stuff for all those blocks, but that’s not any fun :) UUnet doesn’t exist anymore, as a backbone or otherwise. AS 701 (the old uunet AS) is now Verizon Business.

I used to have to do that shit for the backbone provider I worked for :)

I’m on a wifi connection that I believe caps at 40mbps. In a different building on a wireless AC connection I’ve seen over 300mbps up/down

I now notice you also go to purdue (I believe) and I took this in the basement of Armstrong. Most wireless access points upgraded to wireless AC this year, and I know in Wang hall they have an uncapped access point capable of 800mbps+ wireless connections

I think in recent years Verizon and Comcast have grown service outpacing their manpower on the back end. I still see a lot of this.
